About ByteLoom

A follow-along game-dev blog that ends every lesson in running code.

Hey — glad you're here. ByteLoom is a game-development blog I write from Goiânia, Brazil, and it grew out of a pretty simple habit: sitting next to a friend, opening an editor, and building something small together until it actually ran. Every guide here is meant to feel like that — you and me, side by side, typing the same lines, until the thing on your screen does something. No lecturing, no hand-waving over the hard part.

What we make

Follow-along tutorials, architecture notes and behind-the-scenes build stories, organised into tracks that carry you from an empty project to a playable build. Every lesson is a build, not a lecture: open your editor, work through the steps, and finish with a small feature you understand and code that runs.

Who it's for

Developers who learn by doing — beginners taking their first steps, and more experienced folks filling in the messy middle that clean demos skip. It's rooted in the Latin-American indie scene: resourceful, practical, and allergic to gatekeeping. You bring the curiosity; we bring the worked examples and honest notes on what broke first.

The bundle

The blog is free to read. "From Prototype to Playable" packages the arc into a read-anywhere ebook with every source project, plus a live hands-on workshop, and — for people who want to keep going — a membership to the full, monthly-updated tutorial track. The membership is month to month and cancellable any time.

What this isn't

ByteLoom teaches how to build video games — the software kind. Nothing here involves wagering, prizes of money, or games of chance; "games" means the ones you code and play. Everything published is for learning.

Have a build you're stuck on or a topic you'd like covered? Get in touch — a lot of tutorials start as a reader's question.
